  • Re: Live game and online poker.. Which one is better?

Advantages of live poker: -Better ability to read opponents and pick up tells, obviously. Even in a 3-6 limit game, you quickly get an idea after sitting down who is the table maniac, rock, clueless fish, etc., and can adjust your game accordingly. -Social aspects of the game (very underrated). -Collecting...

  • Re: Some lessons are cheap.......

Boy, does that suck. My condolences. You shouldn't feel stupid--just regret, of course, for the lost pot. It's never happened to me, but I have heard many stories like yours, invariably from the player who had the best hand, realized it after sweating out a scary board, and excitedly fired down...

  • Re: Kids, don't try this at home.

Hand 2: A loose passive 6-12 live game. BB, I'm dealt :4h: :7h: 1 raise and 4 callers. Ok, I'll see it. 6 to see flop. Flop :5h: :th: :as: Hmmmm, lots of math fills my head. 1 bet and a raise. I call and there are 4 left. Turn :7c: Ok, I have more outs. 1 bet, 1 call, 1 fold and I find myself...

  • Fun at 2-4 table.

Yeah, I am playing 2-4. I am one broke chick with moving and all. Anyway, I am playing at my old casino, having a ball sitting next to one of my very favorite players. (his name is Tom and he and his wife are even going to visit me in May when they go to Vegas. I dealt to him my very first hand as a...

 You can never replace the live game atmosphere the drinking laughing and banter that go with a live game also online you dont gnow if the player across from you is some 12 year old kid playing with $10 sign up money or a seasoned player although online poker can be fun i would tread lightly with...

Wow old thread back up top.... I wrote this, 'I prefer UltimateBet over all online sites. Just my opinion though;)' Yuck! I posted that?!?!?! Since my last response to this thread my opinions on UltimateBet have changed drastically as I truly believe that there is something wrong w/ their RNG...

  • Re: Losing at online low limit

I dont play a La Center WA for about the same reason and the fact that the nearest I have ever lived to it is Boise ID. It was a round table game were people passed the deck to deal. Kind of scary. That was the late 80's, I understand they have now have center(house) dealers. [quote="Stephen"...

  • Re: Losing at online low limit

Actually, this was in a live game. I rarely play online anymore after I saw quads 4 times in 30 hands in a SNG. No matter, making a decent wage in a 3-6 game online or live would be tough. BTW, I need a backer and I have written a poker book and I'm the greatest poker player in my house with the...

  • Re: Live game and online poker.. Which one is better?

Tanya I too am mostly a tournament player. But I'm lucky to have daily NL events in the area and I prefer live for one reason (and prefer tounaments to cash for the same): It gives me more focus. It's too easy to get online and be distracted. If I go to a casino, I don't want to bust out...

  • Re: Live game and online poker.. Which one is better?

[quote="coggs"] I've only played at Party and Empire. Have found the 15-30 at Empire to be very profitable. Party has the better multi-table tourneys and single tables I'd give a slight edge to party. I am in on a promotion with Empire where I get 5% of my live game rakes back. Not...
