Wow! You can lay down some big hands. I am not half that good to be able to lay down Q's in limit holdem' before even seeing the flop.
My advice to you is to think of QQ less like "ooo baby pocket queens," and more like "I have the 3rd best possible...

  • Re: Medium PP in LP

I always three bet TT and better against one player (original raiser). If his raise was already called or if there are more limpers before him I would three bet only QQ or better, rare JJ. As for smaller pairs against the single raiser I play both ways - I may three bet with any pocket pair, even with...

  • Re: Golden Opportunity

Hey BrooklynKid and all. I also played this game at the Borgata in AC this weekend and at Caesar so I may have been next to you. I noticed a couple of things with this game and decided to run some numbers in regards to the bonus 1st. I noticed the AA pays higher than AK suited, yet AK suited is harder...

Also, if you think you should lay down a big hand, just trust yourself and do it. Too often I take a flop with QQ or even KK feeling like I'm more than likely behind. Often time I'll take a loose flop praying for a set to save me. Then when the flop comes 4-5-9 I have a hard time mucking to one...

In a 6 handed limit game, I don't think I could lay down QQ in LP. Unless I was 100% sure my opponent had KK or AA, which is very rare, and not possible playing online, I will call up to 3 bets cold with QQ (I might fold QQ to 4 bets cold).

  • Re: Check-raise ethical?

Ah, yes, a valuable lesson I've learned since joing the Clan - I learned to fold strong hands in certain situations. The first time I folded QQ, well it took a little effort.

  • Re: Leading out UTG?

I agree regarding full ring games. However I mostly (90+%) play shorthanded and I do play all these hands from any position. I never or almost never raise them but always call and sometimes even cold call the single raise. KTs shows me negative. Others, JTs, JTo,J9s,QTs,Q9s,T9s shows decent positive...

  • Re: Should I fold it ?

Guys, thank you for getting back to this post. I actually agree folding on flop after SB three bet my raise would be the best action. Well, it's difficult to fold the hand that still has some winning potential for one small bet when pot already has 16 small bets. Not sure if 16:1 are sufficient odds...

  • Re: Did I Play Smart Or Scared

Due to his pre-flop raise from the BB, you could have put him on Aces. So a re-raise here wouldn't be so bad... but it IS the river and you don't want to pay 3 bets JUST IN CASE he raised from the blind with QQ, JJ or AK of diamonds. The play was fine, don't get greedy.
