• Re: Live game and online poker.. Which one is better?

I've played at the Bay 101 a few times, and more at the Palace in Hayward. The 101 is a very nice room, swarming with sharks, lol. The list is sometimes huge, gotta get there early. It moves pretty well, though, lots of tables. Some guys sign on, and have dinner while they wait. Some guys take a...

  • Re: Getting killed on Paradise Poker ...

I would chalk it up to the stakes. At those levels it's nothing more than a total crap shoot. I know so many people that play those limits almost litterally with their eyes closed simply because they are playing a higher limit at the same time and want something to kill the time while waiting for...
Lee Jones: Winning Low Limit Hold'em Sklansky - Hold'em Poker & Hold'em for Advanced Players
I agree with Stephen here about these three books but the Small Stakes Sklansky book you are reading now is absolutely key if you are only playing typical...

Lee Jones was my first book. Sklansky/Malmuth/Miller's Small stakes holdem I read a few months ago. I think it's much more complete than Jones. I've significantly altered my play after reading small stakes holdem and I'm up ~.5 bb/hr over a relatively small time period (20 hrs).

HE For Advanced Players is THE definitive Limit Hold'Em book. If you ever want to move up from small stakes I suggest you read all the material you can get. Most concepts are universal to all forms of poker. Honestly I don't rate these Low Limit books. Why learn to beat low limit when you can...

  • SHould I bother getting new books?

Hey all, I bought 2+2's "Small Stakes Hold em" awhile back and it's great. I wouldn't mind reading more, but I worry that it will take me off "my" game. Every other book talks about other games, even hold em books really cover no limit mainly. I do not plan to play anything...

  • Getting killed on Paradise Poker ...

I am getting my butt handed to me trying to play LIMIT holdem on PP ... I am only playing the .25/.50 table and I cant seem to win lunch money ... lol ... But I can take a table tourney in no limit more than half the time ... Is it just the stakes? ... cost so little to go to the river that people play...

  • Re: starting stacks, again... sorry!
is it just me, or does the increased pot size on the bigger limits seem to offset the higher stakes of each hand you play? I noticed if really played tight like i would at 3/6 and not get to zealous with my betting, then the eventual wins really offset the losses more than...

  • Re: starting stacks, again... sorry!

appreciate the chart all. last night while waiting for a 3/6 to open up I decided to sit at a 4/8. I only had $70 with me but I figured i'd just sit around and take the BB's until the 3/6 opened up (i had about an hour long wait ahead of me). ended up staying at 4/8... cashed out $370 3 hours...

  • Length of Play

Howdy again all, When it comes to sitting down online, how long do you all play for on average? When I first started, I would play micro-limits for hours (and being on tilt trying to get my cash back) Now, I have played $2-4 / $3-6, but only play for a hour or so and spilt. The problem is, I spilt because...
