  • Re: Some lessons are cheap.......

since were telling stories--playing live one night at the casino. We've got a medium sized pot going. I have a straight and the nuts. So at the river i'm heads up to the GENTLEMEN to my left. He calls my last bet and says "whatcha got"? I showed him the straight and then without even...

Boy, does that suck. My condolences. You shouldn't feel stupid--just regret, of course, for the lost pot. It's never happened to me, but I have heard many stories like yours, invariably from the player who had the best hand, realized it after sweating out a scary board, and excitedly fired down...

  • Re: Gotta dumb question...

Here is a little twist on this rule. In our room (an most others, I assume) if the winner of the hand asks to see a "losing" hand, that "losing" hand is a LIVE hand. If the player mis-read his hand and it is actually the winning hand, the "loser" is awarded the pot. This...

Thanks, Jon. It happened last night, a guy asked to see it, and the dealer turned it up, but, I still wasn't sure it was a rule. Dealers here will do the strangest things. I saw one pull a guys cards out of the muck because he left them uncovered, and the guy to his left pushed them in. The dealer...

  • Re: Lesson Learned

Couple of years ago I played $20/40 in Taj. There was a guy on the table - I will call him SOB all below. That's three pots he played. 1. SOB raised from MP. All table folded except old man on BB who called. Does not matter what the flop was, SOB bet it, keep betting on the turn and on the river...

  • Re: Lesson Learned

It makes absolutely no sense at all. If you had your hand in front of you, turned it up, he has to show his hand to win the pot. If he doesn't - start screaming for the Floor Person. The dealer was totally wrong here. Turning up your hand doesn't mean you are relinquishing the pot...unless you...

He called my last bet I turned over J high(missed straight), and he never turned his cards over ....I announced my busted straight and the dealer moved the chips over to the other player..I didnt really throw my cards in the muck I just turned them over assuming I had the worst of it, When in reallity...

I'm confused. "I turn over my busted straight, he doesn't show his cards, and the dealer pushes the chips his way" Hellooooooo...what am I missing?? Did you turn over your hand WHILE throwing in the muck??? I don't get it, in no cirumstances, IF as written by you above would he...

  • Re: Won the pot because misscounted the outs.

Thank you for responses. Couple of points here: While I do not think my both calls were right ones I would not say they are horrible by all means. You may argue with that, but I'll dare to put some statistick: I use Pokertracker for more than year playing $5/10 thru $15/30 shorthanded. Today I spent...

3 players behind you on flop- with the UTG betting into you... my hand would be in the muck right here. TURN PLAY: "UTG bets again. Well, at this point I computed 9 outs(3 aces,4 fives and 2 douces), neither of them give me nuts, but each of them will make me a winner with large probablility. I...
