I play 15/30 on party a lot where there is also 10 and 15 blinds. I still fold my small blind pretty often, especially if there are a bunch of players in. If there is only 1 limper or 2 maybe, and I have somewhat mediocre cards then I may limp... otherwise I fold. I have seen this to be a long-term loser...

My guess is unless they're real rags (low, uncoordinated cards like 7-2os, 9-3os) then it's a long-term winner to limp in here. You're paying $5 to have a shot at $60, if there's 2 limpers. I'd guess even a hand like 8-10 wins against 1 random BB and 2 random limp hands (not likely...

Some lessons are cheap.......

some not so cheap, and you pay with your pride. How I learned to keep my emotions in check at the table: 20 minutes before I sat at the 3/6 full kill HE table they hit the bad beat jackpot for $15K. Guy that took the beat got $9K and proceeded to get DRUNK. Raised and reraised every pot every street...

I would much rather limp with JQs. You want a lot of callers with JQs, you don't want to limit the field, you should be trying to attract as many players as possible, because this is a hand with high implied odds. Same thing with small-medium pocket pairs... you either want 0 or 1 player in the pot...

I had never played limit before...

My only experience to this point had been No Limit Tournaments. My wife wanted to go to a boat and play. I disagree with your last sentence Jon. I like to limp with Jacks in LP with many callers, play it just like a small pair. You are playing the implied odds to hit a set. A raise is useless in LP with many callers, not going to knock anyone out. Might as well call if there are 7-8 limpers in the hand...
