• Re: Nuts flush draw. Check, call or raise ?

disagree with bhiatt... He says its likely everyone else will check behind you in fear of the flush... its better to bet out and people with two pair or a set will call because they have outs. This is kind of contradictory. If someone has two pair or a set, they are not going to check because a 3rd suit...

  • Some lessons are cheap.......

some not so cheap, and you pay with your pride. How I learned to keep my emotions in check at the table: 20 minutes before I sat at the 3/6 full kill HE table they hit the bad beat jackpot for $15K. Guy that took the beat got $9K and proceeded to get DRUNK. Raised and reraised every pot every street...
  • I had never played limit before...

My only experience to this point had been No Limit Tournaments. My wife wanted to go to a boat and play. (Not too many choices here in IN) The blinds were 2/4 The betting structure was 4/8 It only took 1 hand to realize these players were HORRIBLE! You could not drive out ANY bad hands because you could...
  • Re: Playing the cards or players?
There is a tell online which I always pay attention on - this is a pause which players take before making their move. In lot of cases I correctly put player on draw, high pair, medium pair, bluff or check/raise preparation based on the pause they take prior to the move.[/QUOTE...

There is a tell online which I always pay attention on - this is a pause which players take before making their move. In lot of cases I correctly put player on draw, high pair, medium pair, bluff or check/raise preparation based on the pause they take prior to the move. For example if I bet some average...

  • Re: Nuts straight on turn.

Kram, I'm with you on this. Limit poker, especially anything us mortals play, you gotta raise. Sure, they'll probably call and you might lose one more bet but what can you do. Put another way, if one of those board cards pair on the river, you are still gonna pay off that full house. So jam it...

  • Re: Nuts straight on turn.

You have to raise here, and what really are the chances of the board being 4 different suit... very un-likely. By the time you hit the turn, the board normally has AT LEAST 2 of the same suit. But lets pre-tend:) In a limit game, with that much money in the pot- I'd most definately RAISE IT UP. These...

  • Re: Wired KK gets cracked..Tell me if my play was in the right...No-Limit Tournament
In a short handed game like that, with everyone folding- I may have attempted to slow play those kings and get some action. Just to find myself getting trapped by my own trap. You tried a different approach, neither approach being the wrong one- and it just didn't work out...

  • Re: Building a Poker Table

Now I am feeling that was a bit of a cop out answer on my part. More thoughts. If you want to make a poker table, start with the basic decisions. How many people do you want to accomodate? How much room do you have to work with? Is it absolutely necessary to have a rail? Do you want folding legs? For...
