  • Some lessons are cheap.......

some not so cheap, and you pay with your pride. How I learned to keep my emotions in check at the table: 20 minutes before I sat at the 3/6 full kill HE table they hit the bad beat jackpot for $15K. Guy that took the beat got $9K and proceeded to get DRUNK. Raised and reraised every pot every street...
  • Re: Set on 4-flush board.

Fold. Originally I would say call but the :ac: is just going to raise behind you. He (she) probably has :ac: :kd: and flopped the classic top pair nut flush draw. UTG +1 obviously has :jh: :js: so the board pairing could actually give someone else quads and kill our hero. Even if hero rivered the case...

  • new record - 3 players go on tilt after this hand!!

The other night I was playing some 3-6 waiting for a satellite to fill up. I had been there about 45 minutes and was +60 already. Family pots are a wonderful thing. Onward, poker soldiers. I'm in the BB and I am dealt EP player, I'll call him the table pro, raises to $6. Table pro was young,...

  • Ummm......your head just exploded

On rare, wonderful days, everything clicks. You catch everything you need and other players love to get involved in pots where you have the nuts. Perfect bluffs make everyone fold. A semi-bluff flush draw gets a couple callers and you make the hand. I had a night like this Monday night in a 10-20 game...

  • Fun at 2-4 table.

Yeah, I am playing 2-4. I am one broke chick with moving and all. Anyway, I am playing at my old casino, having a ball sitting next to one of my very favorite players. (his name is Tom and he and his wife are even going to visit me in May when they go to Vegas. I dealt to him my very first hand as a...
  • Re: Won the pot because misscounted the outs.

3 players behind you on flop- with the UTG betting into you... my hand would be in the muck right here. TURN PLAY: "UTG bets again. Well, at this point I computed 9 outs(3 aces,4 fives and 2 douces), neither of them give me nuts, but each of them will make me a winner with large probablility. I...

  • Inside Straight Draw - correct?

Last night I was playing 10-20 (PartyPoker) when the following hand came up. I was BB, the UTG player raised, BUTTON called, SB blind. I had 6 7 off. I decided to call. The flop came 3 4 9 with possible flush draw. UTG bet, BUTTON called, SB called, I called. The turn was the 5, no flush possible, giving...

  • Re: Raise or muck?

I only play low-limit ring games. "Raise or muck" is a phrase that I've heard several times over the years, and I wanted to get people's take on it. Say that you're heads-up with someone after the flop, and you can't put the other person on a hand. You know that what you have...

  • Re: How does your tourney play differ from ring games?

I agree you should definately check out Sklansky's Tournament Poker for Advanced Players. I feel, unlike Limit ring games, in NL you have to develop your own style. when you see the pros play NL, they all have a different style of play. In Limit, you are a little more restricted by percentages, whereas...
